99 - Slicing & 3D Printing
Slicing = Preparing your 3D design by cutting it into thin layers so the printer knows exactly what to do.
3D Printing = The printer building your object one thin layer at a time.

Select the object and Export to .STL format
Go to your "Downloads" on your browser (Shortcut: Ctrl+J).

Open Bambu Studio application.
Click "Create new project".
Under the Prepare tab, there are a few important settings you may need to adjust. However, the default settings should work fine if you haven't made any changes. Drag and drop your 3D file, created in Tinkercad or other 3D softwares, in .stl format to prepare it for 3D printing.
| Settings | |
|---|---|
| i) Printer | Bambu Lab P1S |
| ii) Plate | Textured PEI Plate |
| iii) Nozzle diameter | 0.4 |
| iv) Project Filaments | PLA Basic |
Drag and drop the .stl file into the Bambu Studio application to import your 3D model for slicing and printing.
Click Slice Plate. This will prepare your 3D model so the printer knows how to print it.
After slicing the plate, the software will automatically switch to the Preview tab. Take note of the Time Estimation --> Total time (print time).
To print using a microSD card method, click the drop-down menu circled in red and select Export Plate Sliced File.
Click "Export Plate Sliced File," rename it, and save it to your desktop (or anywhere else) before transferring it to the microSD card for 3D printing.
3D Printing (Bambu Lab P1S)
IMPORTANT! Always turn off the 3D printer before removing or inserting the microSD card. It is cold-swappable, but powering off ensures safety. The power switch is located at the back, on the bottom right.
- Turn off the 3D printer.
- Remove the microSD card.
- Copy the sliced .gcode file from your laptop/computer to the microSD card.
- Insert the microSD card back into the 3D printer.
- Turn the printer back on.
Locate the file you want to print, and press OK. It will display the print duration.
After the print is complete, remove your 3D model by hand. It will detach more easily once the build plate has cooled. You can also remove the magnetic build plate, gently bend it to release the print, and place it back.
