If you've completed the Prerequisite steps on the Space Portal sidebar, you should be able to get here.

Select 3D Logo

Click 'Copy and Tinker,' and start creating your Group Logo.

Navigation and Object Selection

If you're new to 3D design, it helps to practice basic navigation and object selection.

Rename the file to your group number. (e.g. Copy of group_ _ → group00)

To check or change the length, width, or height, left-click on any of the white boxes, then adjust the value. The white box in the middle is for height, while the white boxes at the edges are for length and width.

Height adjustment

Hover your mouse over any of these icons for about 2 seconds to see their descriptions. Feel free to experiment with them! You can duplicate your object, delete, or undo/redo steps. You can also merge multiple objects (Union Group; Ctrl+G) or separate objects (Ungroup; Ctrl+Shift+G).

Note that you should merge all objects into a single piece if you plan to 3D print them, as the printer will likely print it as one connected object. Shapes with stripes (Hole) will create a hole when merged with shapes without stripes (Solid). Scribble lets you create customized, interesting shapes easily–give it a try! Finally, Text allows you to type your own text. You can also search for ‘Letter’ if you want to use individual letters.

Ungroup the selected object to do a quick inspection on individual objects.

Select 'Logo Sample', followed by 'Delete this', and lastly hexagon shape.

With the 'Delete this' selected, experiment with edit scribble. It is very easy to use for creating custom shapes. Hit 'Done' once you're happy with your design.

Making a hole example

Now that you’ve learned all the necessary tools for creating a logo, delete everything and start from scratch. If you successfully completed the 3D Key (Group Project) instructions, you should already know how to 3D print. Good luck!

Printing should take about 25-30 minutes.

Once complete, use your 3D printed logo as decoration for your building!
